It’s a strange situation, but they (the CEOs) are not relying on science/data.
1) In IT, a high IQ/ critical thinking/etc. will be required.
2) Gaussian distribution- only =< 10% of the population has the required level of IQ to function with AI (in IT/ medicine/ law/ etc.).
3) Statistics on reading habits (extensive knowledge is the foundation of critical thinking- otherwise, it’s just guessing).
4) Statistics on people who keep learning (meaning they are trained to do so).
Etc. etc.
Of course, "the pie" will be cut into pieces, and we don’t know exactly when, but it’s realistic that within 1-5 years, 20-30% of "the IT pie" (and other jobs- office work, graphic designers, etc.) will be cut off...
This revolution is quite different from the previous ones because it creates an intellectual- psychological barrier to entry that is insurmountable for most people, meaning the majority will be "users".
On the other hand, some of these theories are exaggerated by x100, because the theory that 90% of developers will be laid off in 5 years is a fairy tale...
