Tbh, the reason why so many AI bros are so ignorant of the technical side is because of how easy it is to get into it nowadays. As far as the reasons why scrapers have gotten away with mass scraping to train their AI models. That is partly because they pick on people who can't really fight back, but it's also because legislation hasn't remotely caught up. I'm not an artist, but as a dev, it's interesting to see how AI affects other fields. I hate hearing about what AI can do. I am aware, and it can be a useful tool. However, the amount of power it uses, loss in privacy, and theft does not justify the results.
