I think an even bigger issue is that eventually it could just make artists completely useless, given it can just make these pieces on its own. Let’s say it’s 10 to 20 years in the future and a person wants a piece to hang up on their wall, why would they pay an artist when they could just get an ai to do it in seconds and print it out? Systems compile art pieces under search terms put in by the user to get an idea of the style/ piece. Then, this is where the ai comes in. The ai creates a piece by in the most simple form, meshing parts of other works into one. It’s essentially using artists to destroy artists. When you put it like that, it doesn’t sound so cool now does it? Even worse, none of this will change if the common people don’t side with the artists, as we are already a small minority and our voices are already being silenced to begin with. Unless they begin to agree, then the exploitation will continue until artists are essentially removed from the process all together. The only thing that would ever be left would be aincent works that have aged value behind them, such as works from da Vinci and other famous artists. People’s work will only gain value after they are dead, as there is now a limited amount. And even then, that industry would eventually fade.
