In all seriousness, social media was fine when it was basically just a communication tool, before the algorithms. IMO, if a social media company uses an algorithm to choose what content to show you, that company should then be liable for what it shows you. Hate speech, misinformation, illicit or harmful content, etc. the company now owns it, they choose to show it to you, and they should be liable for any harm caused by that. But unfortunately, section 230 of the telecommunications act gets the networks off Scott free, which means they are free to use algorithms to show us whatever keeps us scrolling, and we are all the worse for it.
