We've been having the same sort of issue in the automotive industry for years. Who's liable when these driver assistance technologies fail and cause injury, damage, or death? Who's liable for the actions of an autonomous vehicle? One would assume the producer of the vehicle, but that is an insane level risk for a company to take on. We already have accountability issues when big companies do bad things and nobody ever seems to go to prison. If their company runs on AI, and it does illegal things or causes harm, will the C-suite be allowed to simply throw up their hands and say "It was the AI! Not us!"??? Sadly, I think we know the answer already.
