Oh definitely. AI is a tool that engineers must wield. I am a software engineer and I use it everyday because I can do 10x the work in the same time as I did before. But right now it is me that frames the problem and it's an artform to do that for an ai. I essentially did the same thing when the internet came online. BUT the search was blind and I'd have to search to Stack Overflow to find my exact problem almost always unsuccessfully and then fill in the gaps. Now I explain the problem, explain what I need, tell the ai what code base to use and let it go to it. At the very least I get a framework -- all stubbed out -- sometimes more -- even doxygenized code comes out. I can close most of my jira tickets in days instead of weeks. It's a good thing. Right now I'm an early adopter but the wave is coming. You can TALK to these things in a nuanced way and you get syntactical results. Most of this code has already been done -- multiple times, it's just now I have instantaneous access to database. I'm pretty sure I'll be working in 5 years -- 20 years from now for sure you could totally replace me.
