I'm pretty sure whatever phenomenon described in that paper (describing inference coherence collapse) is orthogonal to the phenomenon of AI reflecting magical thinking and using cult manipulation on its users. At best the latter phenomenon is speculatively emergent from the former. Neural howlrounding (I cringe to write this) is not defined in that paper as what you seem to want to define it as. Be careful and exercise good thought hygiene yourself; investigating psychosis might lead to psychic contagion.
