Doesn't space and finite resources kind of prevent a post scarcity reality? I doubt machines will ever achieve total autonomous function without some sort of work or programming. The entire premise of our civilization is to become space faring because that's our reality, whether some of us choose to look up or not, we can't sustain on one planet forever. There are too many expectations on our quality of life that prevent us from adopting more efficient ones at scale because of their initial cost. I just don't see us 'not working' ever, but that's fine to me. Even if you're in the creative arts, you're working through creative problems. There's just very little ownership spread across each individual in the labor market that undervalues their time. It's easier to tackle harder problems if we can achieve a better quality of life for everyone. The work becomes easier because we are more effective, not just basic work but leveraged work.
