Well, the consequences of having competition in the market place is to find a way to automate what we value. It may take time, but the competitive pressure will make it happen eventually. There is no pressure to automate something with no value. Thus, if we value art, like creative writing for example, enough to pay people to do it, the pressure will be proportional to the mass of cash out on that.
The only way to not have pressure is to work in something that has no perceived value. But then you can't really make money off of it either.
