Look, these arguments are simple. I'm not certain why they have to be discussed every week on Reddit. The concept of Free Speech in American is a red herring and straw man argument for the real fundamental principle in America, the First Amendment. Free Speech is a Shadow of a Constitutional Right that upholds essentially Government entities, (only government entities) through the act of congress (or laws), has limited power in preventing 1) religious declarations and affiliations 2) abridging religious declarations and affiliations 3) the freedom of assembly 4) a limitation on speech freely written or spoken. That's it. I as a private person can act or react any way I see fit. I am not the government. I as a corporate entity via Citizens United can act and react as I want and see fit they are not the government. So, if I'm repulsed by you, you genuinely cannot appeal to the government to tell them to limit my repulsion of you because that repulsion makes you feel uncomfortable. I'm a private citizen, the Constitution places no limitations on my behavior or actions regarding how I react to what you say or do. Now, there are other laws I have to abide by such as State Laws which provide, essentially, there is no excuse for committing the crime. The laws are like assault and battery but those are state issues not Federal Issues. And honestly, very rarely does anything ever lead to violence; the extent I, as Resistance and Antifa, ever react is alienation and repulsion at Right Wing ideas. Finally, I recognize we, as liberals, alienate Right Wingers. My response? It's neither right or wrong, in the legal sense, nor good or evil to alienate you it is just the only thing we can do as a society to keep our communities safe.
