I really don't understand why people would want self-driving features if you have to pay attention to the road the whole time. That's even more boring than driving. Am I missing something?
AI is a global arms race. The US government will not pass a bill that limits US-created AI.
I think that AI made art probably wouldn’t be nearly as much hated if it wasn’t for AI artists being so snobbish about it being “real art” or whatever real art means anymore
Once companies that aren't heavily invested in AI start telling me about AI driven layoffs, I might start paying attention.
When people say "if you didn't know if it was AI, you would like it", it maybe is true, but as soon as someone tells me it is AI, i will instanly hate it. Its like eating a soup, it is the best soup you ever tasted in your life, and then someone tells you it is made out of human meat. No matter how good it tasted, you would stop eating it immediatly. I get the same feeling with AI art.
Are we ignoring the historic homophobia behind the term "cogsucker"? It's not derived from a racial slur, but its still derived from a slur targeting a historically marginalized community. It feels weird to hear ppl asserting that "cogsucker" is somehow the only robot-slur that is NOT inspired by a human-slur.
"Everyone will be a coder" is what people were saying when "High level languages" came along. You know, like C++. AI tools won't level the playing field. It will make ok programmers pretty good.
I feel like a core issue that was underrepresented in the video is how AI is trained and how it's forced into every piece of media. I personally would have significantly less problem with AI if:
1- the artists that made the AI possible were compensated for their work and were given the option to not have their work used for training
2- If something is AI generated it is labeled as such so tha…
Very well put, Sam. It’s honestly sad and scary how some of these people who side with the AI generators are acting. Their toxicity and lack of understanding of the situation and why artists feel the way they do looks like insanity to me. Hopefully in the near future we can have more open discussion about where we’re all coming from and this issue can be resolved.
Merry Christmas, Sam & all.
It's not even an AI problem—if you're using a model as a service, you should just assume that your proompts and responses are being logged, even if the system at the other end is *literally* just ELIZA.
Anyone can use microsoft's facial recognition tech. All you need is an azure account and a junior software developer. Even if they told law enforcement they wouldn't do it FOR them it wouldn't stop anyone (public or private) from using it for a fee.
ok let's play this logic through. You are in the 'owning class', you have five homes and you rent them out. You almost exclusively rent to 'poor' people who cannot afford a home. Those people lost their jobs so they cannot afford to privately rent. This means your income stream just dried up. Additionally most companies can use AI but lots of companies sell products to poorer folks i.e. Coke, Mac…
Just remember the Ford Motor Corporation KNEW that the Ford Pinto had a fatal flaw in its gas tank design. The engineers at Ford brought the issue up with management and management decided that it would be cheaper to pay off a few people a few million dollars than it would be to fix the flaw. The same logic is at work here. It's cheaper to let the AI convince a small number of kids to kill themse…
Anyone supporting AI to the extent where they'd troll an actual working artist and boast about how they've stolen their art style has clearly never created anything, much less anything worth being stolen. Good on you, Sam, for speaking out.
This guy is clearly naive beyond belief about the implications of a singularity with an AI like Hans. His aloofness and clear lack of concern about the pathological vocabulary being used by Hans is as terrifying as the robots themselves. I’m sure he is a genius with computers and robotics. He is clearly severely limited in understanding humans, human motivations, and human systems. This is a disa…
I've been looking at aesthetic kitchens as inspiration for my own and there are TONS of AI kitchen images on Pinterest. That would be a great prompt to poison!
in reality it's gonna take awhile. they lack the basic infrastructure to transmit the electricity to all the homes because many homes are located in really rural areas.
The prevalent solution that is getting a lot of attention as well as funding is personal solar power kits. Households buy a kit that includes a solar panel, a few lightbulbs, and a TV and they can be self-reliant on power. M-KOPA…
Uhm, yes pretty much what we are being told. "Please work with the new Copilot rollout and find any way we can make use of it"
How the fuck do I tell them that we are an investment management company and the LLM's you're hocking at us cannot do math, reliably, at all? So we're resorting to "copilot, please write me an essay about X competitor" because that's all it's good for and we spend 2 hou…
AI stocks are poised to dominate in 2025. I prefer NVIDIA because they are well-positioned to sustain long-term growth and serve as a foundational platform for other AI companies. I know an investor who has achieved over 200% returns with NVIDIA. I'm also open to any additional recommendations you may have.
Doesnt this seem more like a "who would you pay attention to" thing? Girls paid attention to someone relatable and inspiring; boys, classically, to a damn flying robot
