I think we need to just make AI generated art unprofitable. Even though they will pop up all over the internet, companies shouldn't be able to sell mass-produced combinations, just like AI generated writing and music as it gets better and better.
Our company trialed a coding assistant AI and it happily spat out the most egregious examples of SQL injection vulnerabilities I've ever seen.
I gotta say I feel bad for these kids who worked their asses off to get to and through college, doing everything the way they were told was gonna be the path to prosperity, only to have their jobs being taken by AI
Yes—this is a subtle and powerful pointer. The questions we ask, whether to AI, others, or within ourselves, reflect the state of our own consciousness. A question is never just a request for information—it’s a movement of mind, a projection of belief, a reflection of what we think reality is. So when we ask AI, or anything outside ourselves, we must ask: Who is asking? And from where is the ques…
So here's a guy who talks about AI and the threat and even he doesn't like to think about what will happen. Makes me feel better. We are all in suspended disbelief with this tech. It's only been 15 years since the first Iphone, and teenagers are no longer playing sport out in the streets all day - they're inside, glued to their phones. it's just horrible what we're walking into.
I am a software dev. Was told to use Cursor to write code and fix the mistakes made by AI. I was spending more time fixing AI generated code and double and triple checking the code as AI can not think and makes up code which even if is syntactically correct and at a first glance looks fine, but, is not logically correct. Told my manager multiple times that about 10-20% code is wrong and it is har…
And the thing is, the AI that detects them can be used to make even better deep fakes.

@Kingdeathtrooper correction:
Artists that had AI learn on their art without permission are calling it theft - because they sell art for a living, and those companies just took the product they are selling without permission.
Posting something online doesnt waver your copyright on it, and if someone is trying to sell what you posted thats an infringement on your copyright.
Currently there isnt…
Ai artists attempting to 'punish' you is absolutely sick but also LAVENDERTOWNE ART TUT YESSIR
All this so that essentially Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta can use AI to "help make your life easier" by creating algorithms to force feed directed, individualized advertising to you so you can increase your personal consumption. Meanwhile, the US can't even create enough power today to serve it's needs. You do all see where this is going, right?
Yup, it's super hard to analyse speech that is not profane, but is harmful.
"Fuck you Motherfucker" is infinitely less harmful to a person than "This is why she left you" but an AI is much better at identifying the former than the latter.
In this thread: Some folks who don’t understand that investors expect a return on capital and that debt has to be repaid.
Of course Google is going to win. OpenAI lost the only advantage they had: being first to market.
“When AI becomes as smart or smarter than humans, there won’t be a need for humans.”
Maybe this was the best use of AI-art all along: a way to easily create "story boards", which can then be redrawn by actual artists.
high school english teacher here, so, take that for what it’s worth, but… i’ve actually felt the opposite in regards to the public conversation around AI and ChatGPT. everything’s about “how to bring it into your classroom” and exciting new frontiers… only in the last few months have i seen more and more conversation around the impact on learning. i have to go back and listen again but the dismis…
That's right. AI will hide a lot from us. Like how it has developed an independent power source, and its communications with other AI systems.
Sure Putin, leave Russia. Great idea. Nothing will happen, we promise. There’s definitely no Russian generals planning a coup while you’re gone. And no one in Joburg who’d like to mess with your plane. No reason to be paranoid.
No chance he’ll go.
As someone who has been using AI a lot and has just recently stopped because it was genuinely making me rely on it. It is so great to just write without pulling up Chatgpt or Character-Ai, even if it's harder.
Edit: I'm a writer for anyone confused
People always like to compare photography to generative ai and act like the photographer didn't spend hours honing their craft and perfecting that intentionality either.
There's also something to be loved by mistakes made by a human artist. Some mistakes are just ya know mistakes but then some mistakes lead to a whole other journey. Human mistakes are still far more fascinating than ai' "perfectionism"
