Not really. I remember having an assignment of programming a NN to recognize some symbols. And if you drew a hundred times three symbols or whatever else and if you asked it something it wasn't trained to show, it SHOULD show *I didn't recognize it*. Because the recognition error was too high, as in nothing in its memory resembled the user's query.

I'm in the precious metals/gems industry and work in Africa. This really is going to Kickstart a new Era of business. It helps bypass a lot of laws/regulation set up by corrupt leaders who try to form policies centered around funneling money to their pockets. Another exciting development that should hopefully become a reality is a unified East African union of 8-9 countries.

Will they have the capacity to power this with green energy when it’s dark and not windy? Will they be investing in battery banks big enough to maintain this, or are they going to fall back in fossil fuels then? Kenya is in arguably a better position than say America to go green because they have less infrastructure to replace. The issue is the high investment cost. Hopefully it works out for th…

Article isn't working for me. As a technology instructor and administrator of all the online testing in my school, I go to a lot of these trainings. For NJ, we used the PARCC (now the NJSLA). Last year in one of our meetings, it was discussed the use of AI to grade essays. It's absolutely terrible. You could get an "A" if you just structure the essay to hit all the "key terms" the AI is looki…

>All their manufacturing has been moved Maybe we should rethink that part. Moving manufacturing to China led to weakening of the blue collar working class in developed countries and then that led to some xenophobic politicians grabbing their votes, while people in power pat themselves for outsourcing pollution to China.

A couple months ago, somebody covered their face while passing by a facial recognition camera (the trials for this move). They made him uncover himself and his reluctance was taken as suspicion. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/facial-recognition-cameras-technology-london-trial-met-police-face-cover-man-fined-a8756936.html https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/man-ordered-uncover-fac…

If our corporations aren't profiting, what's the point? Until corporate America gets it's piece, we're going to stall.

The part that makes it obvious is how different business products are. If the customer is a business, suddenly the product and it's support are top notch, putting customer satisfaction in front of all else. That doesn't really seem to be present elsewhere anymore. Consumers are partly to blame though. People usually just look for the cheapest option these days, which makes companies think tha…

You should absolutely watch the made-for-TV movie [Brexit: An Uncivil War](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brexit:_The_Uncivil_War) starring Benedict Cumberbatch. I think it’s on HBO if you’re in the US and Channel 4 in the UK. Remember that Brexit was the “practice run” for Cambridge Analytica for the US 2016 elections. And Brexit went even better than their wildest dreams could have imagined.

I bought new plain hats and plain shirts to go with my dark glasses and mask. I saw a neighbor at the store and I was delighted that they didn't recognize me. They are good people, but sometimes, I just don't feel very social. I love this mask stuff. It's possible to mark masks with dark colors to fool machine learning that can recognize people even with masks. It's easy to carry more than one m…

Because they think they can make money based on it, I'm sure. They have piloted systems for tracking people in a store, watching what you pick up and then charging you automatically. Also gives them more insight into your shopping behaviors and how they can use marketing to manipulate them to get you to spend more.
