It has not been kicked to the side lines. Our national news channel published just last week that they are waiting for answer about funding. We are a small country and vaccination like this cant be produced without government backup. Sadly gov response to them has been cold shoulder or slow af.

Is this misinformation? After watching the capitol riot and how f up american news can be i think i will just skip news sources from US.
At least you tried, if it would happened faster and we had less idiots that decided to not do their part then we would have had a chance to avoid it. Just keep on giving your best.
We can't really do that. Solar panels need a somewhat temperature stable environment as they cannot endure extreme thermal cycling. Also, constant dust and sand exposure will firstly block sun and secondly act as an abrasive when it gets on the panels. Solar panels in the Sahara would be a terrible investment.
I agree with you in principle. I don't think of myself as a Luddite - - but reskilling an entire population takes a lot of time, and we've run out of time. Automated and AI services are already here and most of the population isn't equipped with even the basics of designing or implementing them. Perhaps if there was a concerted effort to revamp the education system, in a few decades we might be r…
Our sentience may be the result of biological causality, in the same way ai is the result of computational causality.
The difference I see is that our biological needs are the fundamental drivers of everything we do. All our thoughts emotions etc, are driven by the need to eat, breathe, survive, and then with in further complexity, reproduce, socialize etc.
For ai, it's "thoughts" are not driv…
Call me pessimistic but I can already see all the SurprisedPikachu.jpg faces when AI is used to make life worse for the 99% by the 1%.
Yeah, each session is a bit different, and you got a shitty session. Refresh the thread and it probably allows you to write it. Annoying "feature" of their limitation system.
After reading your post I wonder, were you ever a programmer?
You can have chatGPT produce code for you but it's incredibly important to know what that code is doing and also to ensure whatever chatGPT produces is the best and correct method for achieving your desired result.
In my experience the code chatgpt produces is not typically scalable and will require refinement over and over again.

The thing that scares me is that animals don't even understand the concept of a question. Something so basic to us.
Imagine the difference between us and any sort of advanced AI. Not even intelligence. It will be doing things for reasons we have no way of even comprehending.
It'll do something akin to "asking us a question", and we'll be completely confused.
OP: GPT-4 Week 20. The last remnants of humanity huddle together in fear, haunted by the AI bots that they once created. Food is running out and hope is slowly diminishing. The end is nigh.
In all seriousness, I’m a firm believer of our spontaneous ingenuity, so here’s to hoping we can enforce regulatory measures before our technology trajectory far surpasses our emotional capabilities to contr…
Yep. Same reason why Elon Musk was demanding a six month “development pause” while buying about 10k GPUs for his X.AI venture.
A few studies have been made on "how likely is it that an extinction event hits humanity by 2100", as in, "the end of civilisation as we know it"; researchers estimate nuclear risk at 1%, and AI, or man-made artificial intelligence, at around 10%. So yeah pretty big risk indeed
Working on a startup or project where you’re building from scratch? Sure I could see ai being a ~10x. Working on proprietary tech with lots of internal systems? Good luck.
The vast majority of swes fall in the second boat
No, the OP is leaving out important information. Chatgpt actually performed just as well in the paper in making code. It just added triple quotes to the beginning and end, *making it not work directly from copy and paste, but was otherwise fine.*
And the more convincing AI gets, the more "dumb" people there will seem to be. Don't underestimate its ability to catch you!.
For images created with machine learning, it may come down to the dataset that was used for training and if records of age and consent are available for it.
Porn producers are required to have all of that info. If you can prove that all models in the dataset images were photographed legally and with consent then it will be hard to argue that content generated from that dataset would be in violat…
I think the bigger issue is the potential for teen girls to feel even more self concern about their bodies. The AI will skew towards bias and perfection rather than reality. Too many young girls will fall into the “I should look like that” and get depressed because they don’t. AI isn’t going to put stretch marks, cellulite or non perfect breasts and labias.
It’s easy for girls to deny that they…
I wonder if ChatGPT needs an internal monologue in which it can say stuff that isn’t revealed to the user. This way it could keep track of stuff in its speech (like humans do) but without having the user hear everything it thinks.
I mean i kinda get it, because SOMEONE is going to make money of reddit data, you're crazy if you think OpenAI and other LLM's aren't already using all of reddit scraped (for free).
I don't understand what the controversy here is tbh, these are public posts that have been available to scrape for any company in the world until now, reddit is just saying that if they're going to do that they need …
