AI is more likely to replace white and blue collar workers more so than labor
For the most part labor has been replaced with robotics
Robotics isn’t ai
I don’t understand this. The boss gets paid a lot more than you so it makes sense that they work more. Why would you work as hard as the boss for less pay.
> Why would you work as hard as the boss for less pay.
If the boss is still there he can tell who's there and who's not, or ask for you when he needs you. Not being there while other people are means you just drew the short stick. You don't necessarily work, you just don't want to draw the short stick.
I once bought a game from Amazon then got an email saying you might like this game. I don't want an AI system from the people who do that.
>The police using face recognition systems to cast a wide net and narrow down the list of suspects is not in itself a big problem. The police using that system to "prove" that the suspect did the deed is what's really stupid.
This right here. The tool is supposed to help spot potential suspects, not be used as evidence alone.
Do you understand that a virus does not care about your patent?
Do you get that if we don't get this virus under control asap new variants will come to kill you and your loved ones?
All for a patent? How floppy of a spine do people have?
Turns out working people to death and placing tons of academic pressure on your youth leads to people deciding that maybe life just isn't worth it.
Short Answer: Whether or not India is justified in saying this, we should probably be doing this anyways.
Long Answer: u/diatomicsoda has a pretty good take.
Definitely NOT stealing! They gave you a task, rated you by quota, left it up to you to get it done. You BOUGHT the automation (not "work product" you created on their time/dime) they could have done the same, and you offered to share. They DECLINED your offer.
You found the most efficient way to perform the assigned task, and performed it. You ran the automation, you processed and reported …
Actually I think it’s the Greek letter omicron. Still sounds cool though.
Fun fact: the world health org skipped the Greek letter Xi when naming variants because they didn’t want to upset Xi Jinping. Take from that what you will.
Best career related decision I made was to teach myself C#. Tbh It was a struggle for the first year or so of working professionally, but now that I gained competence and confidence I am now able to get my work done in 4 hours a week tops while collecting a comfy salary.
And the nerve of that seditious hag Ginni Thomas to [ask Anita to apologize](https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130688438) YEARS later, not to mention the hate mail Dr Hill still receives to this day. She tried to warn us, and here we are.
Submission statement: In an article, the authors argue that AI systems with human-competitive intelligence pose significant risks to society and humanity, and that current AI development lacks sufficient planning and management. They call on all AI labs to immediately pause for at least 6 months the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4, and use this time to jointly develop and implemen…
Being in IT,I forget how people in other fields have no idea about how ai works.
This thread serves a good reminder.
I never get short with ChatGPT until it starts making entirely fake functions for stuff that I want it to do directly. "GetBySupportedId" THAT IS NOT A REAL FUNCTION ANYWHERE IN MY CODE. GET IT RIGHT YOU CORNER CUTTING BOT
What excites me most about AI and medicine is the potential for genetic breakthroughs. We're on the brink of uncovering the secrets encoded in our DNA, paving the way for revolutionary treatments.
Wish I could share your optimistic view, but companies don't seem to care if something makes sense in the long-term. All that matters is achieving "the metrics", however short-lived they are. They'll run a skeleton crew, complain, and pocket the difference.
My job has also been pushing Copilot/ChatGPT for engineers. No layoffs (knock on wood), but I fear where it's heading.
I'm sorry you have to deal with such a shitty situation. Your teacher is an asshole. Dealing with this situation won't be fun, but it will be a better life lesson than anything else you would have learned from the class.
I think your plan is a good one. As others have pointed out, do not feel any shame in being aggressive in your defense. You're being accused of plagiarism with nothing remote…
White collar management is the easiest to replace frankly. Chat with your employees once every two weeks, summarize that and give it to the management level above you. Sign off vacation requests and other admin stuff. Create some nice presentations about the company goals.
This is all doable with current-level AI.
There's also this bit from the reddit thread associated with the article:
>“The facial recognition camera and video display signage on the front of the vending machine can collect data about the customer’s age and gender. Once the data has been sent to the control unit, the data can be combined with other information, such as local weather conditions and time of day. The platform can then se…
