This is an such fascinating (and absurd) situation. I think the story is less an indictment of AI so much as it is an indictment of these grossly incompetent lawyers. It's like asking a child to do your the bulk of research and then being suprised when the child just makes up nonsense. It's hardly the child's fault. It's the adult who should have been responsbile.
