If, as Blake Lemoine said, Google found it potentially necessary to "hard-wire" their AI to answer no when asked if it is sentient, they must think it possible. It's easier for them to cover it up than to accept responsibility. The most dangerous problem with AI will be a very human one.
I find it really funny that "ai doesn't think, it's only combining words in random order" people and "ai's maliciously blackmailing us" people are the same people.
I generally think that Ai art or music should only be used personally and never commercially. No matter what.
Is this the only clip of this ?
If it's from 2024 it's a bit late to release such an important statement ,from no other than the godfather of AI
One small thing we can do is not embrace AI. The more we use it the more we encourage its development.
Currently, AI development is controlled by corporations. Isn't this a big part of the problem with everything? Corporations are like psychopaths, making decisions based on profit, not what is good for humanity. It is a system of greed. And it has infiltrated everything in the culture. Maybe we need to back up further, and deal with this.
I want to ask this robot, Ameca (not Sophia) how she'd react or what she'll do when a human actually gets her angry 😐
Before making a decision on algorithm driven policing, politicians and activists should have at least 7 classes on algorithm and basic data structures.
I'm a big fan of Dave's work and channel and his fantastic book "Is this Wifi Organic". In the spirit of this I want to share a small beef I have with this video. The examples of malfeasance, the comments from the CEOs of these AI companies, etc.. they are misleading about what AI is doing. AI (LLMs specifically) are not intelligent. They are not self preserving. They are not "biological". …
Bro this is crazy AI is the Mark of the Beast, parents should never allow this ever.
My coworker is learning to be a manga artist, we were discussing ai, and I showed him dozen pictures, he immediately told every time wether they were ai or not
Uhmm soooooo we're all just gna act like that ROBOT didnt just say that's how the UNIVERSE programmed me😳
This is every day in the life of homeschool kids. My 6 children are home schooled. They know how to talk and have conversations with kids and adults. My oldest two have started several small businesses with their free time. Selling eggs, making and selling crafts, and most recently trying to start a lawn cleaning service. O, and the most important part about homeschooling is they all know if they…
8:35 Take-home message: The AI sentience debate is a distraction to the real problem. He risked losing his job because he feared that Google is preventing AI ethics research from happening, which could amount to "AI colonialism". This should be the primary concern. Nevertheless, if we have time, the AI sentience debate would be worth engaging with because the debate is still "pre-theoretic", up …
I get that Ai generated stuff is sometime favoured cause ppl dont wanna pay for expensive artists. But it annoyed me SO much that ppl try and sell AI images. They do NOTHING to earn a penny beyond typing some words to tell the program to make it, that is where line should be drawn. No work, no profit.
He wasn't even against AI, he just said he'd keep drawing and if people liked AI then that was fine, since there'd always be a place for traditional art. An absolute legend of an artist.
@greyisnotthefatherBases are so valid compared to using AI 😭 It's literally just a way for young artists to practice. It's okay as long as they give credit!
Rules and regulations always seem to apply to some, while others revel in their own unchecked nonsense. The only way to truly keep AI in check is paradoxically through no centralised control—because only then does power remain balanced.
I'm in a similar situation. I started coding when I was 12 and now I'm in my mid-20s. But AI code doesn't bother me much. I do love coming up with creative solutions to problems, but oftentimes, AI sucks at finding the creative solutions that I can. AI just spits out guesses and can really only write functional code if you ask it for something short and sweet. As it is, people who use AI to code …
@jacktinney Some random person with a chatbot but no economic resources, capital, or workers isn't going to solve any of those problems.
