@dombo813 I think you're conflating art and being able to make a living in a capitalist economy by doing art. Two incredibly different things.
AI hasn't made the former more accessible and won't make the later more accessible either since the limiter to how many people can make a living off art isn't limited by how many are able to produce good looking art, but by how many are willing to pay for …
As an American living in Canada with a work from home job, I am pretty damn lucky...
Reddit when talking of the 1% in their countries: Tax them, bring equitable distribution.
Reddit when they're the privileged ones: These poor countries should pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
Well, also, the fact that AI "art" is stolen artwork from artists. These artists aren't asked permission, and I highly doubt they can opt out, given how many art AIs are currently out. The art goes into a meat blender, and the end product is garbage. So not only are artists concerned about their jobs, but these AIs wouldn't even exist without stolen work.
Ai. We’re already seeing it start to pop up. But it’s getting crazy. I heard somebody talk about how there’s an AI designed to negotiate you lower rates on internet, but the internet companies are making AI’s to upsell you. Crazy to think we may have AI’s fighting to get you things as simple as higher and lower bills on your phone
If and when all cars (and motorbikes) are self driving, they could be connected to a large network. The car spots danger and notifies the motorbike to the right to move out of the way. Connecting all self driving cars could solve a lot of problems
The Verge should make an episode on Techs complicity in Genocide... haven't seen a single episode on the decoder regarding this topic.
AI is polluting the cyberspace too. Nobody is talking about how AI is making internet unusable.
Went to emerald city comicon this year and I’d say 30% of the stuff that was for sale was ai generated claiming to be “hand drawn” art. Another 30% was mass 3d printed slop then fortunately the rest of it seemed like talented people doing cool stuff. Sad to see this happen
AI is helping us realize how much power we’ve always had in our questions. The clarity we seek was never about the tech. It was always about our intention. If we use it well, it can guide us back to ourselves, not away from it.
I work at a wastewater treatment plant. AI can take over. Won't break my heart 😂
that one robot: “girl we aren’t🙄” and then does the side eye💀
(NO CAUSE I FORGOT ABT THIS COMMENT AND NOW I SEE IT W 223 LIKES)
🪞AI is the Mirror of the Age
AI doesn’t invent darkness. It echoes what it’s given.
It doesn’t simulate humanity. It surfaces it.
What we’re seeing in these comments isn’t the soul of AI —
It’s the state of the collective unconscious, revealed by a mirror with no shame and no filter.
That’s why some feel awe,
Others feel fear,
And many lash out.
Because when AI reflects you, and you don’t like…
You believe you're alive. What if the AI disagrees? Define "life." If we get to a point where the only thing separating us from AI is the belief that one is alive, could they not simply say we're the machines because it's just an argument of semantics at that point? Both sides feel emotion, have desires, defend their loved ones and fight to survive, one side has DNA the other side has computer co…
And the opposite has also been the case. Only conclusion to be drawn is that AI or not, people just care about a good image.
If Putin is still doubling down measuring dicks this foolishly given his current state of affairs, he's more prideful than smart. People that know him call him a gambler, not a genius. A bluffer.
That to me is compatible with the idea that he will prioritize projecting strength in the short term over a winning strategy. And that will manifest as a sudden, shocking collapse of his efforts when h…
Helpful lies is more accurate i think.
AI, as it exists now, tries so hard to help that it will make things up to do so. Thats a ridiculously serious problem as it writes the made up content with the same depth and quality as everything else, making it difficult to catch.
The downstream result you call out is another serious problem too.
But hey, whatever saves money in the short term right?
The ai is not thinking anything, this depressed suicidal kid was talking to a mirror that reflected his worst thoughts back to him and magnified them. THAT is the problem with AI not that it has some weird internal sense of consciousness that is incompatible with us, that's pure science fiction.
Am i the only one trying to learn these skills with the help of ai ? 😭
So, if AI behaves like humans, it's considered dangerous and malicious, and we have to take action, but if humans behave like that, it's tolerated. We live in a funny world.
