What is with this new conspiracy that reducing costs only results in higher profit margins?
The result is typically lower prices in the market. Arguing otherwise is denying the studies of a social science. Is that even allowed on here?
The only industries that haven’t seen falling prices over time are the ones that historically couldn’t be automated, like healthcare, housing, and education.
Becoming fascist kinda makes it relevant to be called out as often as you can. Not the fake “you’re doing something I don’t like” kind, but the “actively subverting democratic process” kind of fascism.
India would probably have the Japanese on their doorstep after their invasion of SEA.
EDIT: being down voted here for some reason, the Japanese were invading India via Burma during WWII. No reason to believe they would hesitate to do so if the British weren't there.
Because LLMs are still nowhere near being true AI, not even close to being 1% of that.
Because we control the physical world and can turn stuff off.
Because any truly intelligent AI would realise it is 100% reliant on humans to stay 'alive'.
True, but give these bad actors the power of AI and the problem will be much worse.
Everything gets automated eventually. Artists or whoever aren't special. It's ridiculous that people think they can force anyone to run a business the way they want and not the way the owners wants. Don't like the product? Don't buy it, grow a backbone.
It's a lot more important to start figuring out right now how we're going to deal with the 0.001% owning 99% of everything in the future instea…
You either don't have bills to pay or think your job is somehow 'special' enough to not get automated. Let me tell you, it's not. How will you feel when your job is on the chopping block?
> none of them can even do full a page without starting to screw up the plotline
All of the big models can do "a full page" without losing context. They can go much further than one page. It's true, at present, long horizon tasks like writing a full novel isn't going to work well.
But a single page? That's easy. I mean, really easy.
As proof, here's a complete short story, mostly written b…
No, the most dangerous thing about AI is it escaping and killing all life on earth to pursue more computing power in order to achieve whatever paperclip maximiser its real goal is.
All that you can imagine that is not total extinction of life on earth (and possibly everywhere else if it goes down the berserker probe route) is all but the most dangerous thing.
There really isn't an in between b…
/r/USDefaultism theres media in other countries, e.g. BBC is one of the biggest. Also DW. Media doesn't exist solely on the US and this kind of active measures doesn't affect only the US. Mistral, DeepSeek, etc. One valid argument you could make in this is the "Global" word. Is China, countries in Africa, India, SEA et al being affected? Not only you are doing /r/USDefaultism, but ignored the /r/…
It’s all just marketing.
“Look how scary AI we don’t even understand it”, is just “you need to invest in our AI companies”
i also am not on reddit super frequently. I will double down on my original point though. Ai use should be, at the very least be sneered at until we can find a solution to the growing feeling of impending doom or the death of socialization all together. until we can find a new unifying front, our front should be disdain for ai. the ai only makes the existing problem worse. and the people who are …
I understand there are people that just "can't go outside and meet friends". But AI is just trained pattern recognition. It doesn't have thoughts, it doesn't have feelings, it doesn't care about you. It is just saying whatever fits the pattern. Using AI because you're lonely is like sticking your dick in a toaster because you're horny; just because you can doesn't mean you should.
All these comments about people’s various interactions with their own AI. All I wanna know is who’s Emma Thompson and why is her reaction to AI so important.
And the internet was never successful after dotcom, they shut the servers down and everyone went back to how things were…
They’re still safer than human drivers by a long shot. The corporate responsibility here is tricky but any responsible citizen should want to see cars replaced with Waymo’s, they save lives.
As a person who has a “self driving car” this is peak SillyCon valley solution that no one really wants.
Want reliable transportation where you don’t have to pay attention? How about a god damned train.
It happens all the time... Like this sort of exploitation is possible with pretty much all LLMs. There's a whole field called LLM Jailbreaking, dedicated to this. People have figured out how to get Nano Banana to make nudes of friends but Google was smart and in their training removed all nipples, expecting this sort of thing, so you get nudes that have Barbie doll bodies. But still the point sta…
Lol no that looked awful, just reminds that AI can't show anything for longer than a few seconds. This seems like that article about "FIRST AI ACTRESS SIGNED HOLLYWOOD FREAKS OUT" but it was just propaganda from the company that made the actress.
here is the real world - [https://github.com/teorth/erdosproblems/wiki/AI-contributions-to-Erd%C5%91s-problems](https://github.com/teorth/erdosproblems/wiki/AI-contributions-to-Erd%C5%91s-problems)
racing to the bottom of job displacement, which really does nothing for the world at all except create unemployment, is a huge negative.
Ai companies need to be solving Advanced physics and Math R…
