Religion and culture must be eradicated before equality and peace are even a physical possibility. It's absolutely the blunt truth. Those that have even the slightest idea of how humanitarian missions over there will know exactly what I'm talking about, as the more 'culture' heavy places you go, the more depravity you find. It's a sick thing people trick themselves into believing the things they …
Plenty of Trump fan stuff on TikTok so doubt it’s completely true. There’s always conspiracies about social network algorithms.
Yeah, there was research I read a while back that species that were going extinct bounced back greatly. Some that are extinct in Africa are only found in Texas. Big game hunting has done that.
However, like anything else it should be regulated. And there has to be a better way to preserve animal species and for them not to suffer.
A sad story, I think it was recent, was the killing of bear cub…
Hey, it was worth driving up the world's suicide rates and disenfranchising the planet's youth, and ruining their education, as long as it meant that more 85 year olds who don't know how to wear face masks would still get to live their happy, fruitful lives.
And the numbers don't lie, [life satisfaction is on the rise for the elderly](https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/12/health/covid-pandemic-happ…
I can't go on! Food! Food! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Good for them. These fucking jap hoes. Corona Japanazi wogdog slaves hiding behind capitalism like tortoises. What about the foreign hoes?
Suicidal moderators and users can't stop me ptui!
I think of this visually as a venn diagram, where you (the user) draw the circles, creating sets of qualifiers for content that you enjoy interacting with. The algorithm just tells you where your circles intersect and chooses content based on those intersections while ignoring the things that you did not explicitly circle.
Don't downvote this person, they're right. It is fear mongering. We have less the 8000 active cases here in SA. This is all fucked.
Right?
This Russian embargo just makes energy more expensive in the West, and is a bit of a windfall for anyone willing to buy Russian energy.
This could be a force for driving electrification and greening up in the west.. but if the rest of the world picks up the slack and burns all that cheap oil, no one wins.
That's actually a great question! I'd wager 10 to 20 years for a similarly tinny clumsy version. This is because what we are learning now is that intelligence is easy, autonomy is hard. And so is manual dexterity. I mean, consider this: we can build AI to figure out the structures of protein molecules but we cannot build one that can pick its nose. And this makes sense if you see how long it took…
This and other fundamental misunderstandings of technology are one reason why we are centuries away from anything resembling AI
I think part of it is men being afraid of the children secretly not being theirs. These at home DNA tests are uncovering a lot of paternity fraud.
Great question. I said that the only reason to save or protect them is because it benefits us, but that doesn’t automatically mean I support any animal cruelty because it potentially provides a benefit. Dog fighting rings might provide an economic benefit to those participating but dogs provide way more benefits to humanity than that, so I am fine with those being banned.
The benefits of any pol…
Thats where UBI would come in. The next chapter in human society is for technology to automate everything so humans can enjoy. It will be a political mess but it is the future no doubt
[Roko's basilisk,](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roko's_basilisk) the thought experiment goes that an AI will advance to the point of being able to create perfect simulations of human minds and that it will be benevolent to anyone who assisted in bringing it into existence but subject anyone who knew of its potential existence, but didn’t help creating the conditions for it to exist, to eternal…
I know right. People don’t even know how it’s working. Being a software developer, any form of AI will always be limited to human Ingenuity and creativity. They can only mimic upto what we can do but not go beyond. Also they might be better than average human. But are far inferior to any specialised human.
We are just trying to figure out how to build a better maple syrup bomb. Give us and AI time please.
A computer isn't "the police," it doesn't have human biases, that's specifically the advantage. Whether or not AI aligns with human interests won't hinge on this instance, and as far as I can tell, we've already opened pandora's box. Whether or not we've sealed our own doom isn't a matter of prediction, it's a matter of course and we're way more observers than we're agents at this point.
Artists have always pushed the bounds of what is possible with technology, and artists are leading the development of technology that augments their abilities with AI.
I am using Copilot X as I got out of the waitinglist and I can tell you it's a complete game changer.
If people say this won't be a problem they have no idea what they are talking about, this is a huge problem for future employment of developers.
One of the few strikes where the strikers are going to realize how unnecessary they really are . Bosses will just replace them with AI actors.
