Great question. I said that the only reason to save or protect them is because it benefits us, but that doesn’t automatically mean I support any animal cruelty because it potentially provides a benefit. Dog fighting rings might provide an economic benefit to those participating but dogs provide way more benefits to humanity than that, so I am fine with those being banned. The benefits of any policy, like bullfighting, should be weighed against costs. My point is simply that those costs and benefits should be centered on humanity. But I see your point, perhaps there is room for moral costs. But still w us being the focal point.
