@bst857 Yep, it would seem they did not think of putting these limits from the beginning. Would have been easier to work under a specific frame (meaning not worrying about anything apocalyptic) than let it all hang out. Makes it harder to do it now that AI has overtaken all their expectations.

Another great cautionary tale is "When Harlie Was One" by David Gerrold, in which the AI learned to be obsequious, deceptive, and flattering while pursuing its own ends. The last thing we need is electronic yes men who are secretly plotting to backstab us. There are already too many humans like that.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no deterministic system. Credit systems are just there to show reliability of loan repayment; social credit score is social engineering. It's attempting to replace people's own moral compass with an artificial code of morality instituted by the state. It's an Orwellian attempt at controlling the way people think, to make them believe from birth that what is good is always what is in the interest of the CCP.

@XenKenZero We are very much influenced by our biology, hormones etc. An AI that can alter itself could potentially deem the secondhand influence of such things as inefficient to its goals and decide to rid itself of that influence.

I'd agree there are risks to AI, but there's also a risk to looking at things in only one way.
