@group555_ But it's still not really expressing themselves if it's a machine doing it. People have always had debates about digital art because there are so many resources available in programs like Medibang, Ibis X, ect that it can feel low-effort to some. But even so, a substantial amount of effort and consideration must be taken to achieve what the artist wants. I can't say the same about people who use ai, they really just need patience and perhaps some specific phrasing.
someone who makes spaghetti with box noodles and packaged beef has more involvement than people who use ai do on new images. It's like finding an image on Google you like and slapping a watermark on it saying you made it, except in this case it's a newly generated image. Still not yours, but with a twist.
I think artists are very right about gatekeeping here. If you don't genuinely try to be an artist on your own merit, you don't get to sit at the artists' table. That's just how it is.
