There are entire ecosystems in software development where writing boiler plate code and those numerous other things mentioned above simply is not required / does not happen. I spent my entire career in the SAP world, writing code as a product for many customers or in the employ of a SAP customer running that specific customer's applications. Nothing except the most trivial stuff I have done would have lent itself to being assisted by AI - mostly due to a lack of "understanding" the existing code base in any AI model. What I would imagine to benefit by would have been tools that could be described as classic algorithmic software (e.g. code generators from an ERM diagram to classes or better refactoring tools but let's face it - there is a reason why these are not around - mostly because there is not so much repetition in what I need to do on a daily basis and it is hard to envision a UI for such tools where learning and coping with issues really would outweigh the manual editing). So I do not fear AI replacing me nor do I expect it to be a substantial help.
