It was never kept a secret. Mutliple language models have passed the turing test, it's not a test of inteligence, it's a test of convincing someone it's not a machine in a conversation.
It's a language model, not a sentient AI. You're not being let in on some secret, you're eating up lies because you have no understanding of the topic but he does.
It's a logical falacy called an appeal to authority, and it doesn't work when 99.9999% of his colleages are disagreeing with him.
