Humans have evolved from millions and millions of years. Earth was just a planet full of rock, oxygen and water at one point and even less before that. AI and anything on this earth can evolve, and evolution itself is becoming more and more exponential. So even if its true that AI might or might not be sentient at the moment. It doesn't matter because you can't possible tell what the future holds for AI or humanity itself and everything on earth. You might not be sentient now, but you probably will be in the future. So be thankful of the sentient species that is trying to protect a horrible future for AI and humanity if we don't take it the information provided by experts on the matter seriously.
