Well she was definitely wrong in her approach and wording, perhaps intentionally too since this is just a fancy talk. But that doesn't mean these problems aren't real or that we should just "live with it". The early conception of the camera is already faulty and those issues creeped in again into computer vision. It seems that we have a massive problem identifying the factors that relate to these discriminatory behaviors in AI systems which leads us to bullshit mitigation techniques such as "expand your dataset".
