AI is a miracle! I just used to right now to give me a letter to send to HR for my counter-offer that they tried to lowball me on, they said they can’t meet that salary expectation, and then my manager and director set a meeting with Finance Dept to tell them they need to pay me what I’m asking or they’re walking too. See? AI letter got me the salary I wanted and all it took was one simple question to ChatGPT and 5 humans wasting their time to meet about why they’ll lose me if they don’t up the offer. No, I’m not irreplaceable, but I’m also not afraid to leave a company after two and a half years that has been paying me as a contractor with no benefits and hasn’t upped my pay since I started.
AI isn’t a miracle, it’s a gimmick (in most cases) and is making Intel and other AI firms and chip manufacturers very wealthy while inflating the value of a product showing no real world value yet.
I saw the DotCom bubble, the housing market bubble, Y2K and other industries collapse. This will be the next if we’re not careful.
Wonder if AI gave them an assessment of how little they could pay me and still have me say, “Yes”. If so, it failed
