These days, I am so sick of ridiculous AI hype that I shouldn't even check LinkedIn at all. It is full of people hyping their AI expertise, companies and products. Is AI with us? Without a doubt. Is it useful? Of course! It is absolutely the best thing in the world for very obscure, specific scenarios like regular expressions, and to learn about best practices. It is also very helpful as a quick search tool.
AI will always be able to write code faster than a person can type. But, what what code ought it write? When should what standards be enforced?
Did the user requirements get thoroughly understood? When is it time to compromise one standard versus another when implementing a product? What are the trade-offs of technical approach 1, 2 or 3? How do these trade-offs interact with project timelines and other contingencies? These are questions that it can't address. Most importantly, a person needs to be held accountable if the software does not work.
