You just play this off like it cannot potentially become a REALLY big deal in the future. Humans create it, humans can be evil, and evil people will be the ones to use these to their advantage like everything else humanity has created. We have history as evidence. "Oh, nuclear physics experiments. They're just experimenting to advance humanity" or something along those lines. Now we have the nuclear bomb. It's not the robot itself, but what people will do with it that worries some. It's a legit fear to have.
