I would like to kindly disagree. You can call them whatever you want. But I've been having a tough few weeks, and although I'm also a 'real' artist (I compose/produce/sing/play the guitar/mix originals songs), I couldn't motivate myself or didn't have the technical capacities at the moment to express my feelings in the form of music. Then I discovered SUNO, an AI music generator, I've felt compelled to use it to prompt my emotions, how I want the song to be, which type of instruments, which genres to blend. I tried to tweak the prompts as much as needed. I then edited it with some visuals. And I was shocked at how beautifully it helped me express my emotions, and deal with them. To me, that gets already close to art. Then, someone commented on my video: "This came in perfect time, thx..." . Which means my emotions expressed through the machine were successfully transmitted, and resonated with someone else out there. For me that is the full cycle of art. You put emotions or ideas into an entity with an aesthetic intention. You transfer the emotions into that entity that acts as an antenna "think a Van Gogh drawing". And then some who observe it are uninterested, but for some people it resonates with them and helps evoking an idea or an emotion. I don't know about the brush exemple but the camera, contrary to what this video says, DOES give you a direct result with the push of a button. And photography wasn't seen as an art because it was too easy and everyone could take a picture. But now wee see it in museums, with intricasies like framing, light exposure... It is definitely a type of art. I'm planning on giving my take on this whole thing with a video essay, discussing the origins of art and what art is and how it evolves. I just invite people to be a little more open-minded about this, art is fluid, it evolves with the society.
