My interpretation of what Ethan is saying is: it's the human behind the art is important, how artists connect with each other, how people need art to fill an emotional need in their lives, and that maybe the silver lining to the adversity we're facing now is that the art community can come together stronger than ever. We are already making progress between the ArtStation protest, and the Concept Art Association Go Fund Me.
The first part reads as satire (joking) to me. The few clips Ethan showed of 'AI artists' does not paint them in a good light. Pun intended.
