i honestly agree. if i find meaning in a piece of art and i connect with it, only later to find out it was ai, who are you to tell me that what i connected with in that moment wasnt art? if art is subjective and people can take different interpretations, then why cant i find meaning in what ai generates, and by definition, see it as art. of course i do believe that there is good and bad art, for me personally at least. the more effort someone puts in, and the more i resonate with it, the better i think the art is. so if i do learn an art piece was made from ai, i do think i would appreciate it less, but i dont think i would completely disavow it. and yk, whos to say that ai has no creativity? it takes millions of pieces of work and writing and drawings and it draws from all of that to generate what u prompt it. is that not similair to us, who take in millions of sights and smells and sounds, and then display it in the form of art. Saying creativity and originality is what makes us distinct is nonsensical when u realize the fact that no one ever comes up with something complelety original. everyone is always taking pieces of what they think looks good or what they find nice and will mash it up and put it in their own form. and is that not what exactly what ai is doing? even if its own computational way? im reminded of student at harvard or some prestigous university who would write equations that when graphed, would generate an image. would u not call that art, for he did not wield the pencil? i think its a matter of complexity that people like to look away because it lets them shun something that scares them. i understand it tho, as its human nature to dislike change. to even fear it. people feared many tools which made art easier, like digital art. the program u use recognizes ur strokes and displays it on the screen. there is some level to computational intelligence there, so would u call digital art not art too? i get why people dont like ai and the stuff it generates but i wish they gave it more thought
