Well imagine you are an artist and an AI company rips off all your work without compensating you by feeding their data base with your pictures. Most people probably would be fine with non profit projects but if you want to make money, you should pay royalties. Besides that there are plenty of open source data bases that AI companies can reference. No need to rips someone off.
