AI is continuing to advance, extremely rapidly. There's nothing you can do either way on that front. You can either work on safety and make AI helpful (Anthropic, Amodei's company, is doing more in this space, possibly, than every other AI company combined. They're fixated on it), or you can sit back and wait for someone else to put in place a worse, more evil, less aligned AI.
