Hmm... 🤔 but the concept of "artist" is simpler and more unambiguous than "art". An artist is a person who made efforts to create something that carries only aesthetic meaning, so it's logical that an Ai-artist can be called an artist.
But whether to call the result of his work art depends only on your level of openness (to contemporary art) or on the level of snobbery
