@ghosty_waaa what do you mean by "AI artists" in this context? Because there is no limit in how much effort and thought you can put in when making art using AI.
There's just writing a prompt and getting result (which I wouldn't call "art" because there is no intent) and there is making art purely by hand. And there is everything in between (digital art falling somewhere on this spectrum).
No one forbids you from putting yourself into your art no matter how it's made, be it a piece of coal and a cave wall or a soulless machine. Human creativity finds a way to express itself.
I've made a few images ~1.5 years ago using AI, each one took me a few days to make. I'm still using them as my wallpapers and each time I look at them they bring me joy.
I'm not an artist but I used to draw, and these are the first images that resonate with me so strongly. And there's barely any "pencil" work (though there is some)
