@SolarSands I don't think it's cause for any worry for actual artists at all. From what I've seen (in your video and elsewhere) AI is great at creating stuff that looks a lot like what it's already seen and creating variations within extremely well-delineated boundaries. I have no doubt that it will make art forgeries that are as good or better than any human could manage, but so what? That's nothing new, and speed isn't the salient issue. You might make some money with a single Van Gogh forgery, but you're not going to make any money at all if you suddenly produce a hundred or a thousand of them. Disposable "content" creators should be worried, and that makes me pretty happy. These people are not and have never been artists and I won't miss them when they're gone. I'm talking about the Max Martins of the music world and whoever is making those awful superhero movies in the film world. Real artists have nothing to worry about. Finally, in case the point isn't clear: while I don't think pastiche is beyond the ability of AI, I don't for a moment believe that there will ever be an AI Bach, an AI Shakespeare, an AI Charles Mingus, an AI David Lynch, an AI Michelangelo, an AI Aristotle, an AI Proust, an AI Miles Davis, an AI Tom Verlaine, an AI John Singer Sargent, an AI TS Eliot, an AI Bob Marley, or even an AI version of that really talented kid you knew in high school, who drew strangely compelling pictures or maybe played the guitar in a way that didn't just annoy people at parties. What all of these people have in common is that they are able to build on their dialogue with a given tradition and, through that dialogue, create something truly new and original that actually has something to say by way of opening up a new space for dialogue. Look at somebody like Martin Scorsese: The poor guy went completely off the rails and hasn't made a truly good movie since 1999, and yet: in his early period he did something that literally nobody else ever did or could do. This is what real art is, and GPT InfinityPlus or whatever is never going to be able to touch it.
