I believe (might be wrong) people are not blinded by the money (except few of course) in case of rogue/misaligned AGI/ASI. They genuinely don't understand how AI is different from normal algos and softwares. Because there are a lot of smart people out there who don't have financial stake in AI but still not able to get the issue. Understanding "emergent properties of AI", "misalignment" of AI is not just little hard to understand but when people try to, it sounds so mumbo jumbo that it's rational to dismiss them.
