Hello, while I am not an expert on the topic, I understand that the general consensus in the fanfic community is that explicit content about fictional character is okay while explicit content about real people is not okay, but they don't particularly do anything about it. However, there are many people who make it anyways because they don't consider or care about others as long as they get what they want (and they justify it by saying that the person will never see it). Also, the companies of the websites that fanfics are posted on have rules and guidelines about these things to protect themselves from getting sued, but they rarely enforce them because if they did, they would lose most of their users. Overall, I would disagree with you when you said, "none of us seem to care cause we all know it's fake," because there are people like me who care and think it is wrong. Like another person replied, deep fakes seem to be taken more seriously because it has more real world consequences, and also because there is a larger history of men viewing women as sexual objects (I'm not trying to invalidate men and I'm not trying to say it doesn't happen to them). I wish we would see more people speaking up against explicit content in fanfic because it seems hypocritical for women who write/consume sexual fanfic about real people to complain about men who do similar things to women.
