@AdversaryOne The camera analogy is inapplicable. When people bring up cameras, they bring them entirely to point out the reaction to cameras at their advent, and how people thought they would replace painting. When you look at it now, photography is considered categorically different from painting, though it did replace some aspects of painting. People used to have family portraits drawn by professional artists before photographs. People used to have to draw things and places to document them. Now photography replaces both, but I want you to notice that neither of these applications are interpretive. Drawn art thrived in it's more stylistic and interpretive aspects. A lot of the most popular contemporary art is stylized drawn art, take comics and manga for example due to how much of a cultural staple they are. AI images don't fit the mold of photography in this analogy, since they try to emulate and or replace both, without having either of their merits. Well, fine, so how about the entertainment part? Surely it's just a harmless novelty? If you've been on the internet since the AI boom, which I assume you obviously have, then you'll see how the proliferation of AI junk content is extremely frustrating at it's best, and dangerous at it's worst. I used to use Pinterest to find and sort images to use as reference for my drawing and 3D sculpting, but now it's become almost completely useless due to AI content being treated the same as ordinary art. I don't think I need to explain how it can be dangerous, since the examples are dime a dozen, and I'm kind of tired of writing comments all day haha.
