heya, i would say its stealing because the artists' styles are being copied entirely, or in pieces and stitched with others. now, beginner artists often draw inspo from many artists and include them, then expand on them over time, developing over time. but ai cannot, it only mimics. ai art is stealing because these artists are not compensated for exact replications of their art, while ai companies or generators make profits. another aspect is consent. ask (most) artists, and they will say it is okay for new artists to take inspo from them, to build their own skills, and the reason consent of the artist is so important is because of the amount of effort that goes into art. not many artists would consent to having their art used by ai, but unfortunately, there is not one engine that does not take images without consent.
