Not really. You all lack of understanding of tech underneath. I mean - you are somehow right. To the point - as there are completely new model architecture showing up which avoids pitfalls. It seems to me that all of you repeat like mantra some clitche like "AI has no soul", "AI can't do XYZ", "AI produce souless crap", while everything improves and changes to the point that right now best AI models can produce artworks and design most artists with 10 years of craftsmanship under their belt cannot. Not telling that to offend someone but you all need some reality check. And I am telling that as someone who illustrated professionally for about a decade up until I pivoted to software engineering. Younger generation will use AI as a tool. Look at most tools from design now - AI is te main direction of changes. They barely touching normal tools - most changes are about AI implementation. In 2-3 years new students would work as following: - sketch, draw normally - use those to transform them with AI - sketch/draw in software - while collaborating with AI to add style, texture, background etc. - use prompt engineering for whole illustrations If you really think this won't happen you are very naive. Couple of reasons: - most society don't care - people usually overrate their works - the expectations of "speed delivery" and quality of artwork will increase significantly As above ^^ nobody in the art community care about us programmers, or marketers being replaced in the market by people who use AI on daily basis. It will happen to every profession. The usage of AI is a mandatory must have for sure. Question is when this will become obvious to people. In 2,3 years or 5?
