My main beef with the photography vs. AI Art comparison, though, is that there's a key difference: While photography is easy to recognize from every other medium prior to AI just by looking at it, AI seeks to produce indistinguishible results from whatever other medium it is taking reference from. This inevitably leads it to become more intrusive in the spaces it is "competing" with instead of creating a separate niche.
Not sure if this is relevant to your comment, but it's something to take into consideration.
