You bring up an interesting point! Though I don’t have a firm philosophically sound rebuttal, I think there are some important distinctions between AI art and Human made art. With people taking pictures of a landscape or of other pictures, there still is a human making decisions and taking the picture. Even if they don’t make the subject of the photo, there is a human directly behind it framing the shot and ultimately taking the picture. There is value in that from an art standpoint. With AI, even if made by people, the creator is removed from the creation process. They make the prompt and can alter aspects of it through changing the wording. But ultimately, they are not making choices on how the art is. They are at the whim of the AI’s interpretation of their words. I think it’s that removal of control that is key. With all other forms of art, the artist creates and then the viewer/listener/whatever else it may be gets to receive the art. Whereas with AI art the creator prompts, the AI then interprets, and then the viewer receives it. Looking at things through the lens of an AI’s interpretation of the art is different than viewing an artists interpretation. So yes, AI is man made, but the art it creates is not. It’s just an extrapolation of what the artist wants created.
