@laurentiuvladutmanea I would respectfully argue the following. I have a fine arts degree. In the four years I studied, what do you think the instructor did to teach us the various techniques and styles? They had us study the artists, both classical and contemporary. My first end of year project was to produce a non plagiarized, original piece in the style of the artist of my choice. I of course chose V. Van Gogh, my preferred artist at the time. My point is, ALL artist copy the style of previous artists on the path to developing their OWN style. I am in NO WAY condoning the use of AI to forge, plagiarize or otherwise directly imitate other contemporary artists. They don't allow it in music, and it should not be allowed in any art form. But, I draw heavily on Alphonse Mucha, Cary Nord and Quintin Hoover in MY style of art... does that make me a plagiarist? I have my own style of course, but it is a cumulative of all the styles I have studied, imitated and adapted as my own variant. What people are doing by copying the artwork of someone and claiming it as their own, is not right. Full stop. And I agree that using an artist's work without permission. Equally wrong. Full stop. But using existing works to create new works based on their style is what ALL artists do. What I propsed in the before mentioned post stands. AI is here, it WILL happen. It might offer the possibility for artists to sell their original works to AI companies to help build models. Those models will in turn feed a new generation of digital medium artists to develop their own versions of those styles....
