- it doesnt affect anybody - - It Does! It affects a lot of people. It affects the artists who had their work stolen, because it devalues (literally - taken without compensation) their work. It affects the artists who are not hired because their prospective clients used a bad AI art generator rather than hiring a professional artist. -its free quick and easy - - It certainly isn't free, even if it's being provided with cost to the user. It has massive costs in terms of electricity, carbon footprint, hardware, software, programmers, etc. All of those people get paid. As explained in the video, all of that money comes from investors, who have limited resources. They're investing in AI when they would otherwise have been investing in other things. For example, every dollar spent investing in AI medical transcription technology is not being spent investing in new vaccines, new treatments, new medications, etc. The knock-on effect of AI investment will be felt for a generation, if not more. Billions of dollars are being dumped into something that not even AI experts believe will yield Artificial General Intelligence, and all of that money isn't being spent on things that will actually improve your life, like fighting climate change or stabilizing geopolitical tensions. The world that young people inherit will be materially worse because of the massive AI investment sink. Economists are going to write about it and you'll read about it when you're older. -it advances quickly - - It certainly changes a lot, but the extent to which those are changes are "advancements" will only be clear once the dust settles and we have a product that (a) fills an actual need, (b) is self-supporting, and (c) is sustainable in both an environmental and business sense. -its easy to find - - Art is easy to find! So easy! Go on any search engine and search for literally anything and you will find art. Go to a museum, there's art. Go to a library and there's literal tons of books of art (literally, books are very heavy and libraries have to be constructed to carry the load - fascinating stuff). You can go to conventions and find art you like and talk to the artists and other people who like that art. Real Human Art is all around you! -its usable for most untalented people - - Look, learning anything is hard. It takes time and dedication. You won't get it immediately. But it's not impenetrable, it just takes the desire to learn and the time to do so. If you have the time to watch youtube videos, then you can watch youtube videos designed to teach untalented people(like you) how to draw! And then you won't be untalented! You'll have talent! - its cheap af - - this kind of contradicts your earlier point that it's free, which we already pointed out isn't correct. It also isn't cheap. It's EXTREMELY expensive and is actively draining your future of investment. - doesnt need rest or (as much) time - - The great thing about art is that by the time you need it, there's already been thousands of years worth of artists making art. The "time" investment was made before you were born by people who spent their whole lives working to grow their skills and develop their craft. And the time that real artists take is actually twice as powerful as the time spent by an AI, because every drawing makes a real artist better. AI doesn't learn from its process, it just repeats it over and over. When a real human makes art they are both creating and improving at the same time. Humans are incredible!
