Even with all the guardrails in the world, trillions of dollars of research, the protections only need to fail once. If you somehow believe we'll get it perfect the first time, I'm sorry but you don't understand humans well enough. It is so easy for these systems to self-propagate that even the tiniest lapse could be exploited, and all of a sudden we have countless untrustworthy models on systems all over the world. I get your argument, but even as AI progress is impossible to stop, we need to be going in a different direction. Away from agentic systems.
If you're right, and there's no way to stop this trajectory, it's really only a matter of time until something goes wrong. exactly how it happens, and how vast the consequences will be remain to be seen. But the way I see it it's an inevitability.
