At least someone has noticed this. I was originally bothered by the constant headlines "Man claims AI is Sentient then is Suspended" He was suspended for violating confidentiality. That goes beyond misleading and closer to outright lying. He was lucky, any employer has the right to dismiss you for that.
If they asked an AI expert how it worked people would know why it is in fact not sentient and does not have the same rights as a human
