@reddragonflyxx Sure, I don't disagree with that logically. But this approach only serves to fuel the fire. People want to be right and they want to prove others wrong. I think it's far more effective and beneficial to *_educate_* people on how AI could and should be used, how it can help, how it can hurt, what it's good for, and what it's not. But that's not what most people are doing. Most people are either rallying behind it or stepping on it. All this does is further entrench people in their own opinions and actually do the opposite of what's good for the field. AI isn't going anywhere, so we might as well try and nurture its evolution rather than fight it and stick to old thinking. And if senior devs and influential voices and teachers can take an active part in that campaign, the better it will be. Instead, what I think is happening is that they are spurning it and thus leaving it only in the hands of people who don't understand its dangers and who are abusing it to the point where the amount of bad software and security vulnerabilities is going to skyrocket even more. If all of the important and influential leaders who are perturbed by the rapid influx of AI-generated code simply distance themselves and condemn its usage, then the inexperienced people abusing it will have no guidance and instruction and, left to their own devices, will likely severely damage the field and promote the irresponsible copying and pasting of computer-generated code. We’re in the developing stages of an *_extremely_* valuable tool, and its future is shaped by these critical stages. As you said, there certainly needs to be some counterbalance to all of the hype, but simply writing it off as a bad way to contribute to software development is not a helpful strategy in the long run, in my opinion. Young users aren’t going to hear that and heed the advice. They’re going to pursue further. It would be a huge mistake to ignore how important and far-reaching this technology is and how ubiquitous and influential it will become. It will get used no matter what. If used responsibly, it will be a profoundly powerful asset. If used irresponsibly, it will be a profoundly powerful danger.
